On behalf of Gym Trix I would like to welcome your child to the club and provide you with some information about our activities. The club provides opportunities for children and young people to receive coaching and recreational competition.

As a sports club, we are committed to providing high quality standards for all participants in relation to effective management, quality coaching, and safety in our sport.


Our clubs designated safeguarding officer is Naoise Downey who is responsible to ensure that our safeguarding policy is implemented and to deal with any concerns that you may have. Naoise can be contacted on 0044 7469200362.

Codes of Expectations

Gym Trix code of conduct outlines the standard of behaviour that is required for all gymnasts, coaches and parents associated with the club. It has been created to ensure that everyone involved with the club enjoys a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns with our designated safeguarding officer.


Sports clubs for young people should offer a positive experience where they can learn new things in a safe a positive environment.


Gymnast’s Code of Expectations

Ø Be polite and courteous at all times

Ø Behave and listen to all instructions from the coach

Ø Do not leave the group without permission from a coach

Ø Take care of equipment

Ø Be respectful of other gymnasts and show team spirit

Ø Refrain from the use of bad language

Ø Refrain from bullying and report any incidences of such

Ø Not use violence

Ø Wear suitable clothing i.e.: leotards, shorts and t-shirt or tracksuit. Hoodies and drawstring are not recommended.

Ø No jewellery of any description especially belly button piercing, which cannot be seen

Ø Long hair must be tied back

Ø Mobile phones are not allowed to be used in the hall

Ø No eating or drinking in the hall

Ø Keep to agreed times for training and competitions or inform your coach if you are going to be late


Children/young people have the right to:

Ø Be safe and happy in their chosen activity

Ø Be listened to

Ø Be respected and treated fairly

Ø Privacy

Ø Be referred to professional help if needed

Ø Be protected from abuse by another member or outside sources

Ø Participate on an equal basis, appropriate to their ability

Ø Experience competition and the desire to win

Ø Be believed

Ø Ask for help


Any misdemeanours and general misbehaviour will be addressed by the immediate coach and reported verbally to the designated officer.

Persistent misbehaviour will result in dismissal from the club. Parents will be informed at all stages.


Code of Expectation for Parent/Guardian


Ø Positively reinforce their child/young person and show an interest in their chosen activity. Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.

Ø Do not place their child under pressure or push them into activities that they do not want to do.

Ø Create an account with our class management system, class4kids.co.uk and provide correct information.

Ø Detail any health concerns pertaining to their child on their account. Any changes in the state of their child’s health should be reported to the coach prior to class.

Ø Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received. Paid for spaces will be given priority.

Ø We don't issue refunds or carry-overs for missed sessions due to your own circumstances. (Exceptions will be made for long term illness at the manager's discretion).

Ø If there are any sessions missed due to adverse weather conditions, Gym Trix will offer a make-up session, or issue a discount for the next term. 

Ø You must refrain from bringing your child to class if they have had any form of illness within 48 hours of the class.

Ø Deliver and collect their child punctually to and from coaching sessions, participants will not be allowed into the hall prior to the start of their class.

Ø Ensure their child is appropriately and adequately attired for classes and remove any jewellery prior to class beginning.

Ø To inform the coach prior to departure from the gym if their child is to be collected early or if someone different is collecting them.

Ø Encourage their child to play by the rules and teach them that they can only do their best. Help your child to recognise good performance not just results.

Ø Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.

Ø Behave responsible in the gym, do not embarrass your child.

Ø Never punish your child for losing or making mistakes.

Ø Use correct and proper language at all times.

Ø Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

Ø Show appreciation and support the coach.

Ø Accept the official’s judgment.

Ø Acknowledge the importance and role of the club coaches.


Parents/Guardians have the right to:

Ø Know their child is safe.

Ø Be informed of problems or concerns relating to their child.

Ø Be informed if the child is injured.

Ø Have their consent sought for activities such as trips.

Ø Complain if they have concerns about the standard of coaching.

 

Any misdemeanours and breach of this code of expectations will be dealt with by a Gym Trix official. Persistent breaches will result in the parent/guardian being asked not to enter the gym if their attendance is detrimental to the child’s welfare.

The ultimate action should the parent/guardian continue to breach the code of expectation may mean the Gym Trix officials regrettably asking the child to leave the club.

Code of Expectations for coaches and volunteers.

Ø Ensure the safety of all children by careful supervision, proper pre-planning of coaching, and using safe methods at all times.

Ø Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.

Ø Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

Ø Treat all young people equally and ensure they feel valued.

Ø Encourage all children not to discriminate on the grounds of religious beliefs, race, gender, social class or lack of ability.

Ø Not allow any rough or dangerous play, bullying or the use of bad language or inappropriate behaviour.

Ø Be positive, approachable and offer praise to promote objectives of the club at all times.

Ø Not let any allegations of abuse of any kind go unchallenged or unrecorded.

Ø Report incidents of alleged abuse to the designated officer.

Ø Incidents and accidents must be recorded in the facility’s incident/accident book. Parents to be informed.

Ø Refer all accidents/incidents to the club first aider.

Ø Have access to telephone for immediate contact to emergency services if required.

Ø Not have their mobile phone on them whilst coaching.

Ø Not abuse members in any way.

Ø Maintain confidentiality about sensitive information.

Ø Respect and listen to the opinions of participants.

Ø Take time to explain coaching points to ensure they are clearly understood.

Ø Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.

Ø Be a role model, displaying consistently high standard of behaviour and appearance.

Ø Uniform must be worn at all times.

Ø Refrain from smoking and consumption of alcohol during club activities.

Ø Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.

Ø Protect themselves from false accusation:

~ Always be publicly open when working with children

~ Avoid inappropriate handling/supporting techniques

~ Do not take children to the toilet

Ø Hold appropriate valid qualifications and insurance.

Ø Never coach beyond their qualification.

Ø Make the sport/activity fun.


 

 

Coaches/volunteers have the right to:


Ø Access ongoing training and information on all aspects of leading/managing activities, particularly on safeguarding.

Ø Support in the reporting of suspected abuse.

Ø Access to professional support services.

Ø Fair and equitable treatment by the governing body/club.

Ø Be protected from abuse by participants, other members and parents.

Ø Not to be left vulnerable when working with participants.

Ø Any misdemeanours and general misbehaviour will be dealt with immediately and reported verbally to the designated officer. Persistent breach of the code will result in dismissal from the club.
